20 FACTS ABOUT ME
For those of you that REALLY want to know...

1.
I am an ABC. For those of you who don’t know what that means, it’s an acronym for “American-born Chinese.” I can speak Mandarin (not well according to my grandma, but I try lol); however I can’t read or write it. I did try the whole Chinese school thing when I was little, but...well, frankly, I sucked, so my parents gave up on that.

2. I am a born-again Christian, and my beliefs are very important to me. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior on my eighth birthday in Washington D.C. I currently attend a non-denominational Bible church, but when I’m at college, I go to a Presbyterian church. It's definitely not always easy being a Christian, but it's the best thing in my life...followed closely by family and friends of course. :D

Some of my favorite praise/worship songs

Chris Tomlin's "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)"
Misty Edwards' "You Won't Relent"
Hillsong United's "Hosanna"

3. My sense of balance can be a bit off, meaning I can trip while standing absolutely still. People definitely stare when that happens. And it usually happens in public places. Yay...Oh, and I ran into a wall once (and a telephone pole too, but that's another story :D). In my defense, I wasn't really paying attention. :S

4. I can curl (or is it roll?) my tongue and do that weird “cloverleaf” trick with it too (if you don’t know what that is, just Google search “cloverleaf tongue”). It’s an odd little trick but it comes in handy whenever anyone tries that copycat game with me since I have yet to meet someone else who can do it too. *sneaky grin*

5. I can’t really swim (at least, not in a fashion that is accepted by the world as “swimming” or even “graceful” let alone "effective"), but I can float...when I think about it.

6. I did a lot of theater in high school which people I know find weird since I'm rather reserved and kinda shy normally. I’ve played a teacher (first time on stage and I had to sing), a voyeuristic camerawoman, a Goth girl (I had to learn how to "properly" head-bang, and then I had to dance and lip-sync onstage part of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" - an experience that...kinda makes my eye twitch when I think about it lol), a Musketeer’s mistress (where I learned the "joys" of wearing a corset), a hobo/bag lady, a crazy blonde mom (got to wear a wig and scream on stage at everybody), and many other fun roles. Some of the best times I’ve ever had…:D

7. I am currently an English major, meaning during the school year, all I do is read and write. And it also means I haven’t read a book for fun in a LONG time cuz I'm usually all maxed out on the desire to read lol.

8. One of my more embarrassing moments: when I was little, I accidentally kissed this guy on the back of the head (very enthusiastically, I might add) because I thought he was my little brother. Needless to say, I soon found out that...well...he wasn’t and was teased about that for the rest of the school day.

9. I have never broken a bone, though I did sprain my back once during a kickball game and consequently learned that when running at full speed to first base, one probably shouldn't turn sharply at the waist to see if anyone caught the ball yet. :P

10. I LOVE country music, thanks to my dad. While I do like at least one song in every genre, country music definitely has a special place in my heart. Some of my favorite artists are George Strait, Martina McBride, Brad Paisley, Toby Keith, and Faith Hill (just to name a few...hehehehe).

Some of my favorite country songs

Bucky Covington's "I'll Walk"
Jason Michael Carroll's "Alyssa Lies"
Toby Keith's "She Never Cried in Front of Me"

11. I sing to the radio when I’m driving alone, and I sing in the shower. I tried singing in my room, but my brother popped in and gave me a look that clearly said he thought I was crazy so I stopped.

12. I have lived on both coasts of the United States and people are always asking me which I like better. Well, I like the snowy winters of the East Coast (building snowmen, sledding, drinking hot chocolate…) but I like the summers of the West Coast (not as humid).

13. The only surgery I’ve had is to remove my wisdom teeth. All four. At once. Local anesthesia only. Horrible experience but the dentist said I was “tougher than I looked.” Um…thanks? Oh, and that was also when I discovered that Vicodin makes me really, REALLY nauseous.

14. I have never done drugs, smoked, or drank alcohol, and don’t really intend to since I know the health risks (thanks to friends with nurse/policemen relatives and to the toxicology class I took), and, personally, I’d rather not…risk it. Plus, it helps that my friends are kinda protective of me and won't let me do any of those things lol. *hugs all my friends*

15. While I do enjoy and love many contemporary movies, I am an old movie fan (think Golden Age of Hollywood era). I enjoy the acting, the scripts, and how they don’t need all the special effects we have today to tell a story well. In fact, some of my favorite movies are in black-and-white. Oh, and on a related note, I don't usually watch rated R movies.

16. No matter how much I deny it or say I won’t do it, I always cry at weddings. Although the first time that happened was because I got some of my hair sucked into the fan...

17. My first crush was on Michael Maguire, the Broadway actor who played Enjolras in the musical Les Miserables. I must have watched our VHS recording of the “dream cast in concert” hundreds of times just to look at him lol. It wasn’t until much later that I appreciated the greatness of the musical itself – definitely my favorite Broadway musical.

18. I’m afraid of heights. Not cripplingly afraid, but if I go somewhere high up, especially places where you can look over the edge and see how far you can fall before you die (say a cliff, the Grand Canyon, the top of the bleachers), I will crack a lot of awkward jokes and laugh nervously in an attempt to break the tension. Then I will get down or get away as fast as humanly possible.

19. I can be quite sarcastic in a fun, loving way, but I usually save that for people I know a little bit better since I think it scares people who don't know me. :D

20. I can play the piano, but only if there is sheet music for me to sight-read – I can’t improvise, transpose, or just read guitar chords.
